There's nothing new about timelapse animations but you don't normally see them created on a dolly outside of Hollywood movies.  A camera dolly might seem like a small thing but it turns these animations into drop-droppers.

Is Chrome faster than lightning?

I have a browser problem - I use Internet Explore, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome and none of them make me completely happy.  Yes, that is a first-world problem and I should get a life but I spend a lot of time online so having a healthy relationship with a browser is important to my mental health.  For now, Chrome may be my favorite.  It has reliable extensions, the address field is also a Google search field, each browser tab is independent, and as you can see from this video, it's wicked fast.

Virtual doodling

If you've not heard of HTML5, it is the next major update to the web.  It will allow web pages to be interactive without third party plug-ins.  (How often does your computer tell you that you need an updated version of Flash or Java?)  Mr. doob gives us an idea of what we might expect of the web in coming years with this multiuser sketch pad.  For some reason, I woke up at 4 AM and, needing some reason to be awake at that hour, opened up the sketchpad.  There were 6 other people sketching along with me.  Admittedly, I didn't sketch for long, but when I woke up, the page was filled

When printers think for themselves.

I bought a printer this past week-end. It took me more than a year to decide what to buy because I've never met a printer that I thought was worth having. For the most part they print but they seem to jam or give me error messages just as often. So, I turned off my brain and bought a wireless printer. It more or less remains active on my network but it will not print a photo on a 4X6 sheet of photographic paper. It insists that I'm using the wrong size paper as if I'm incapable of using a ruler to measure.

I didn't buy this printer. It seems to work.
